Enhancing Sales & Purchase Order Management at Distinctive Retail

Distinctive Retail operates between large food retailers and small food producers, providing a critical link in the supply chain. They required a system that could efficiently manage the flow of sales and purchase orders, as well as handle deliveries and invoicing. The company initially developed an in-house solution, but needed expert assistance to enhance its capabilities and scalability.

What We Did

We worked with Distinctive Retail to enhance their existing system, adding key features to streamline operations:

• Sales orders are generated when retailers need stock, triggering the creation of corresponding purchase orders for suppliers.
• Deliveries from suppliers are entered into the system, and deliveries to retail stores are consolidated.
• Delivery notes are automatically created based on consolidated deliveries.
• Orders can be fulfilled via direct-to-store deliveries, depot deliveries and from stock, all of which are managed by the app.
• We integrated Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) functionality to handle ordering, delivery notes, and invoicing with some customers, reducing manual entry and improving accuracy.

Results

The enhancements made to Distinctive Retail's system resulted in several important improvements:
